An industry-led approach
The Screen Industries Skills Plan is being developed with organisations and individuals from across the UK screen industry.
ScreenSkills is convening and supporting the process, but the Plan itself is industry-led, bringing together expertise from across different parts of the sector, occupations and nations and regions.
More than 150 organisations and individuals are contributing to the wider programme.
Steering Group
The Plan is guided by an industry Steering Group, co-chaired by:
Jane Muirhead
Managing Director, Raise the Roof Productions
Mel Sullivan
CEO, Framestore
The Steering Group brings together senior representatives from across the screen industry to help shape the overall direction of the Plan, identify shared priorities and consider where collective action can have the greatest impact.
Five Working Groups
Alongside the Steering Group, five specialist Working Groups are examining key areas affecting the development of the screen workforce:
Transferable skills
Exploring how skills and experience can transfer between different parts of the screen industry and how mobility across the workforce can be better supported.
Emerging skills
Considering the skills the industry will need as roles, technologies and ways of working continue to evolve.
Data and research
Looking at how better evidence, data and insight can help the sector understand workforce needs and make informed decisions.
New entrant pathways
Exploring how people enter the screen industry and how pathways into employment can be made clearer and more effective.
Work-based training
Considering how learning and development within the workplace can help people build skills, progress their careers and respond to changing industry needs.
Together, the Steering Group and Working Groups are identifying where existing activity is working well, where gaps remain and where greater collaboration could strengthen the industry's approach to skills.
